My creative fashion design studio works with clothing brands, wholesalers and KV kaisa valtakari design collections. Main areas of design are sportswear, workwear, dogwear and pattern designing. Over 30 years of professional experience in independent design and product management enables me to offer production sourcing.
Sportswear
As a designer and a former Finnish national basketball team player, I know that function is the most important thing in activewear. But it can be made more fun with fashionable aspects. My goal is to design great looking collections that perform.
I take sustainability and environment into consideration in my designs. This means everything from material production to clothing being able to be fixed for re-use.
Fields of expertise: All sportwear in track and field, golf, biking, running, fitness sport, basketball. outdoors, hunting, motorcycling, snowboard, alpine skiing and cross-country skiing.

Workwear
The main purpose for all workwear is to serve as a functional element in a persons workday. Workwear and sportswear have similarities in what is needed of them. Great function without having to sacrifice in how they look.
Whatever the industry (service, medical, B to B or transform), it is important to understand that roles and tasks vary and that there are many body shapes who use the clothes. This is why my design starts by putting the person in the center when designing products.
Workwear is an important part of companies brands. Workwear has to be durable, and visually recognizable.
I take sustainability and environment into consideration in my designs. This means everything from material production to clothing being able to be fixed for re-use.
Workwear must also stand the test of time and hard use and care. In many jobs clothing must also follow certain standards / certificates. I am familiar with these standards and take care that they are met.

Sustainable dog wear
2 years ago I was asked to join in StartUp company GOTO-Sportwear Oy as a product designer.
GOTO-Sportwear was founded out of our love of animals and their welfare and our worries for the future of our Planet. The company produces durable, responsible and super-recyclable products that are loved by our dog friends.
Accessories for dogs are used constantly by their owners, which means all the materials used in these products need to be strong and durable. As a designer I share GOTO-Sportwear ideology in believing that making products that last is part of our commitment to our customers.
Fabric and all parts of products are recycled. Products do not end up to waste. We use SEAQUAL® YARN – material in all our products. It’s made from Upcycled Marine Plastic (70%) and other recycled plastic waste (30%).
Our products are designed in Finland and on the Island of Madeira, and made in Europe. Our factories are located in the EU and all our materials are acquired from Europe.

Sourcing
After working with design and production over 30 years I have gotten to know many reliable subcontractors around the world.
As an experienced designer with profound knowledge of the design process, I can assist clients in finding the best way of manufacturing their idea and giving their products the most potential for success by:
Discovering and partnering with trustworthy suppliers
Determining quantity and timing of deliveries
Suggesting methods to decrease expenditure
Optimizing procedures to attain maximum efficiency
This will put the client in the best position to develop and launch the optimal version of a product in the most timely and cost-effective way.
Print and design.
My dream is to have my own KV design print collection for textiles, interior apparel and gift products. Collection is on the way, Since I moved permanently to island of Madeira in 2019, I felt I have arrived in a place where my dream will come true. The richness of nature in this pearl of Atlantic ocean is my greatest inspiration. Madeira island is also called the island of flowers. I am designing different prints which will be used in kitchen wear and interior products like curtains, cushion covers, aprons, trays, coasters, bags and many more. Collection will be out for sale from my webshop.
I also offer own collections for companies.
