Blossom Abstract

In Bloom, Up Close is a series of three abstract art prints that began with my own photographs. I photographed flowers at close range and enlarged the images until the flower itself disappeared – leaving only colour, shape, and light. Each print is a single crop, a single moment from inside a bloom.

Magnified, the edge of a petal becomes a painterly surface and a shadow turns into a dark brushstroke. A recognisable flower becomes unrecognisable, yet its mood remains: the glow of pink, the depth of burgundy, the freshness of green.

The series reflects the way I work – nature is always the starting point, but the final piece emerges through cropping, simplifying, and letting colour speak. It is the same thinking behind my textile patterns: one image, many stories
